“While the Wise Man is happy even in Hell, the Fool suffers even in Heaven”

The best-known goals of the alchemists were the transmutation of common metals into gold or silver; the creation of a "panacea", or the elixir of life, a remedy that supposedly would cure all diseases and prolong life indefinitely.  Starting with the Middle Ages, Arabic and European alchemists invested much effort in the search for the "Philosopher's Stone", a legendary substance that was believed to be an essential ingredient for either or both of those goals.

Certain Hermetic schools argue that the transmutation of lead into gold is analogical for the transmutation of the physical body (Saturn or lead) into Solar energy (gold) with the goal of attaining immortality. This is described as Internal Alchemy.

Though lately there is much spoken and written about Tantra, just a few really know what it means. Tantra is an oriental spiritual system thats main purpose is the unification of the polarities at all levels of the human being. In Tantra the men and the woman are seen as expressions or mirrors of the macrocosmic energies represented by the god Shiva or the male principle and the goddess Shakti or female principle, in any form they would appear.

The balanced union of the two opposites poles, the female one – yin and the male one – yang, drives, in the end, to the mind and body liberation, a liberation of the presupposed endless cycle of unconscious rebirth. The man and the woman potentially present in their being all the world’s possibilities and experiences. When they are in fusion, these experiences are reveled in a new vision and harmony of the Ineffable Unity that is at the basis of the entire creation.
